The smile on duty’s face

Hiya! How are you all doing?

Today’s post is something I wrote over a year ago. Just two days ago, I came across one of my old posts on facebook. It tuk mi ryt bck 2 wen i used 2 rite lyk dis. LOL! Back to times when I would send my dad messages and he would reply and say “I don’t understand what you are saying, what is ‘xul’?” haha. Reading that old post on facebook made me realise that I have grown. In little things and in some not so little things. Like I’ve heard some people say, “I might not be where I want to be but I’m definitely not where I used to be”. 🙂

Yesterday I went over some things I wrote in the past and I decided to share this one. I was itching to change a couple of things but I decided not to.

Tis a lovely smile that lies on duty’s face
Congratulating the labourer for a job well done
Shining bright as the gleam of a trophy welcoming an athlete at the end of their race
Providing even more motivation to carry on
There’s a sense of fulfilment that comes from doing the right thing at the right time
From living up to the right expectations
Making the right people proud
And gaining one over procrastination, the thief of time
There’s a joy that comes from fulfilling one’s duty and finishing one’s task
From doing things right and doing things right on time
Tis a lovely smile that lies on duty’s face
Oh! that this smile would be a familiar sight as I run life’s race.

NOTE: I remember reading a line about the smile on duty’s face somewhere. I tried and tried and tried, to no avail, to remember where I read it. I even tried google sef, no luck. I know that I didn’t read the  whole poem somewhere, just pointing out that that particular idea about the smile on duty’s face is probably somebody else’s intellectual property. I just remixed it a little. I reaaly need to revise my IP law, it seems I’ll be needing it now that I’ve decided to take this writing business seriously. I wonder if I’m the only one who learns to forget. Anyway lemme go pray and coax a wider smile from duty’s face. 😉

Hahaha! That’s what I was busy writing at twenty minutes past twelve on the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Fourteen. Lol. What do you think? What areas have noticed that you’ve grown in? Do leave a comment.

Have a great day and be sure to coax a grin from duty today.

What do I think? I think this article is beautiful and sends a message. I think you were born to be a writer. I think you should have started blogging a long tine ago. I think I’ll keep smiling all the way . . . as I go about my business. 🙂

    Have a fab one.
